I was looking for a way to mount my GPS at dash level (not windshield), without using anything sticky. I guessed that this vent mount might work if clamped to the top-level (non-movable) vent fins in my Saturn Aura. It has indeed worked well for that, with two small qualifications:

1. I had to remove the bottom "kickstand" part on this mount because my vents are so steeply raked that this little prop thing wasn't doing anything in my situation and--even folded up against the mount's body--it was actually causing the vent clamps to be angled up a little too high, thus leveraging them to lose some grip. In some situations, this little prop might be useful, but it wasn't in mine, and it was easy to pull off just by squeezing the plastic part and prying it out with my hands. It could be put back just as easily if you need it later, and there are actually two different mounting points (one a little higher, one a little lower) to adapt to various vent setups.
